Antiquities Authority appeals to int'l organizations for urgent aid in dealing with rain damage to monuments, archaeological sites in Yemen

SANAA, Aug. 5 (Saba) - The General Authority of Museums, Antiquities, and Manuscripts appealed to international and local organizations, benefactors, and philanthropists to urgently help in the face of the damage caused by rain and floods in monuments and archaeological sites, including Sanaa old city, Thula city, Habbah city, Taweelah city, al-Hajra city, al-Sayyar fort, Tan'am city, and other areas affected by the floods.

 

In a statement, Saba got a copy of it, the Authority announced its readiness to cooperate through its cadres and assist the General Authority for the Preservation of Historic Cities, praising the efforts of the General Authority for Historical cities to follow up on the risks to monuments and sites.

 

The Authority appealed to international organizations such as UNESCO, ICCROM, Alf Foundation and all organizations working in the field of heritage to help and work an urgent response plan to implement the rescue in: establishing and restoring buildings expected to collapse, restoring and strengthening collapsed buildings, and working with relevant authorities to correct flood paths or any phenomena that help to compound the collapses.

 

The Authority appealed to businessmen, civil society organizations and philanthropists from affected areas and others to help save these cities and landmarks from collapse.
