[23/ June/2020]

SANAA, June 23 (Saba) - A Civil defense team in the capital Sanaa has put down a huge fire that broke out in a merchant’s warehouse containing a store of oil derivatives in al-Sunainah neighborhood, causing the damage to eight neighboring houses.

Director-General of the Capital Sanaa Civil Defense Colonel Mohamed Bahish said to Saba that four fire trucks and two water tanks managed to extinguish the fire in the warehouse.

The Director-General Bahish added that the warehouse contained a truck carrying oil derivatives.

He pointed out that the civil defense teams rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire and prevent its spreading in nearby houses and cars.

He pointed out that the cause of the fire is the burning of large quantities of oil derivatives in the merchant's warehouse, which is considered a monopoly and violation of the law.

Bahish stressed that the security services in the neighborhood are to take the legal investigation against the merchant for storing oil derivatives in the densely populated area.

It is noteworthy that the civil defense teams put out a fire last week in a four-wheel-drive at the intersection of Defense Street, carrying oil derivatives sold on the black market, He said.

The Director-General of the Capital Sanaa Civil Defense added the fire injured a civilian and completely burned the car, as well as burned a motorcycle that was next to it.
