Yemeni women …Five years of steadfastness
[28/ March/2020]

SANAA, March. 28 (Saba) - The US-Saudi aggression against Yemen in its fifth year,  has exhausted most of its options, if not all. Since the first moments of the aggression, the aggression adopted covering its cruelty with deceiving titles, the world is blinded by its fake humanity.

The US-Saudi aggression's surprise is the unexpected steadfastness of Yemeni People, a specially women continues to be the most important factor in the aggression's defeat. The Economic War and the starvation of the Yemeni People is one of the dirty weapons used by the aggression since the first moments of aggression on March 26th 2015.

Women know very well that America is the main driver and the first partner in the aggression on Yemen, and no matter how it tries to improve its image through deceit and misleading the media and calling for false peace, it will never succeed.

Yemeni women have pride, fortitude and dignity different of the other women of the world by having a project alongside her brother  man to face the aggression , and her pride in her identity.

The war is responsible for taking the lives of at least 57,000 people and starving to death nearly 85,000 children under the age of five, according to a conservative estimate by Save the Children. With extensive military support from the United States, the war and blockade, led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, have also led to the near collapse of the economic, health and educational sectors in Yemen, with half the population—14 million people—now facing famine.

5080 women were killed and injured during the 5 years of aggression against Yemen.

The statistics were received in a press conference,  in the capital, Sana’a, on violations of the aggression coalition against Yemeni women organized by the Equity Organization for the Rights of Women and Children on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Deputy Minister of Human Rights, Ali Al-Dailami, mentioned the violations that Yemeni women and their rights have been subjected to for five years by the aggression, while the world celebrates the day of women and their rights that are guaranteed to them by international laws and treaties.

He pointed out that International Women’s Day in Yemen is dedicated to showcasing the murders, abuse and kidnappings that Yemen’s children and women are exposed to in full view of the world.

The Deputy Minister of Human Rights pointed out that the West who rants the freedom of women and their rights violates their dignity and humanity while Islam preserves the status and rights of women and maintains their dignity, reviewing historical models for Muslim women who have had a great impact in bringing about positive changes in society and public life.

He praised the efforts of the Yemeni woman, her steadfastness in the harsh conditions, and her standing beside her brother-in-law as a basic partner in building and defending the country against aggression and its mercenaries.

For its part, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood reviewed the morals of al-Shami, the reality of motherhood and childhood in Yemen over five years of aggression, stressing that these two categories deprived their rights starting with the right to life.

She explained that the war of the aggression coalition had caused the killing and wounding of thousands of women and children, displacing and depriving millions of the most basic rights such as education, health, protection and the necessary needs such as water and food in light of the silence and complicity of those who claim to protect human rights.

She also affirmed that five years of aggression and siege have caused catastrophic effects on civilians, especially women and children, and led to the spread of epidemics and diseases, as well as the displacement of thousands of families.

Yemeni women: Tell the American people that their economy is built upon the blood of the innocent people of Yemen. Does this satisfy them?! ..Money and oil buys the world to destroy and kill Yemenis.

The Economic War waged against the government in Sana'a has been characterized by the overdraw of the Yemeni currency, printing of huge and surplus amounts of currency, manipulation of the exchange rate of the Riyal against the dollar and the continuation of the policy of draining the resources of the Salvation Government in the same way as illegal entities in the telecommunications and Internet sectors. They forced the companies to open documentary credit through the Bank of Aden, which is completely controlled by the aggression.

The military aggression and the siege imposed on a failed state such as Yemen, according to its situation and international reports, was supposed to cause a collapse of the government in the first few weeks.  Many things has been blocked from entering the country including food, drugs and Oil derivatives.

According to the spokesman of the Health Ministry, Dr. Youssef Al-Hadheri, the stores of the Ministry of Health were devoid of life-saving medicines and many varieties just weeks after the start of the sudden attack, praising the courage of those who took control of the health sector at the time. The mechanism of international assistance was not yet formed. The international community was not prepared to put an emergency plan to deal with a disaster of this scale.

According to data and statistics on the humanitarian side of the health crisis, the Economic War has made thousands of Yemeni families unable to buy medicine, and the Yemeni market now lacks nearly 400 life-saving medicinal products. On the food side, according to UN statistics, millions of Yemenis now live extreme poverty and about 100,000 Yemeni children die every year by hunger.

It can be said that Yemen's customs and traditions, which are characterized by solidarity and compassion, especially in the countryside,  which contain 70% of the Yemeni People, have contributed to alleviate the starvation weapon and the economic war paper as we have witnessed over the past five years.

In the cities, charitable initiatives such as bakeries affected on the starvation weapon and spread compassion in the community.

Mohammed Al-Wajeeh, a member of the Association of Yemeni Scholars, said that the leadership going to the self-sufficiency factors and the development of its military capabilities to defeat the aggression increased the confidence among Yemeni People.

In the same context, the member of the Shura Council, Khalid Al-Madani, said that the consciousness weapon represent the cornerstone of the steadfastness of the Yemeni in front of the weapon of starvation. In steadfastness squares, the religious element inaugurating the sixth year of confronting the aggression, facing Economic War and the starvation.

In General, we can understand how could a besieged State whose resources have been cut off to withstand and mobilize its people. How is it possible for the people to resist the starvation weapon that reached the corners of every home and the cavity of every child, man and woman in the most despicable aggression against humanity.

“The steadfast Yemen didn’t submit despite the fierce attack and the huge number of strikes that exceed any numbers in other wars,” Yemeni women stressed.

20 women have brought back to life Yemen's oldest industrial factory to manufacture face masks.

More than a decade after it closed, 20 Yemeni women have revived the war-torn country's oldest factory to make face masks in anticipation of an outbreak of the new coronavirus.

"We have been working on the masks since month and, thank God, we started working on them before the disease reaches us as a precautionary measure, without the need to import from outside,"   Yemeni maker women.

"I am willing to work here for free for the health of our children, infants and women," added maker women  who, like all the women, does not receive a regular salary but is paid per mask.

In another section, one women sanitized plastic bags as another filled them with masks.

"We have stood firm against war and we will stand firm against this disease,"  Yemeni women told.
