National Organization for Defense of Telecommunications calls on UN to ensure Internet services for Yemenis

SANAA, Feb. 15 (Saba) - National Organization for the Defense of Telecommunications and Post Services called on the United Nations to shoulder its responsibilities in ensuring that the Yemeni people have access to telecommunications and internet services as a humanitarian right.

The Yemeni people have access to the telecommunications and internet services guaranteed to them under human rights charters and international laws that prevent them from being violated under any circumstances, Mohammed al-Thahbani, head of the National Organization for the Defense of Telecommunications and Postal Services, said in a statement to Saba.

Al-Thahbani considered the right to internet services as the necessary community humanitarian option to provide communications and Internet services to all Yemeni people like the rest of the world. Demanding the neutralization of telecommunications and internet services.

He pointed out that it was decided to organize a stand next Monday in front of the United Nations office in order to convey the voice of the Yemeni people to the United Nations and to clarify the extent of the suffering caused by the deliberate obstruction of the operation of the naval cable Aden Djibouti and its station, the submarine cable (AAE1) and its station, and the installation of the branch of the cable Maritime (SMW5), allowing the Public Telecommunications Corporation and The International Telecommunications Company Telemen to operate them and benefit the Yemeni people from them.
