Al-Rahwi briefs Ministry of Foreign Affairs's efforts to cooperate with promising economies

SANAA, Dec. 10 (Saba) - During his meeting on Tuesday, Supreme Political Council member Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahwi briefed Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on the ministry's efforts to strengthen cooperation with countries that did not participate in the aggression against Yemen.

In the meeting, the senior politician member stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with promising economies such as BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).

Yemen is qualified to cooperate with BRICS countries for its place on the Silk Road and its important geographical location on the Bab al-Mandab Strait, he said. He stressed the importance of relying on national potential to move the pace of development.

Al-Rahwi listened from the foreign minister to an explanation about the ministry's efforts to activate cooperation agreements in the fields of trade, investment and economy, including the restart of the textile factory.

The senior politician member praised the ministry of agriculture's efforts in completing the Hassan Dam project in Khanfar District of Abyan Province, which will cost more than $95 million.

Al-Shamiri provided a brief presentation of the two phases of the project, which include the construction of the dam and its annexes, diversion barriers, main canals and the refinement of the valley course.

Al-Rahwi stressed the importance of the project and its positive impact on flood control, irrigation regulation of agricultural land, groundwater feed and rehabilitation of irrigation canals.

The project consists of a storage dam with flood control with its accessories with a storage capacity of 19.5 million cubic meters and 4 diversion barriers in addition to irrigation and control channels.
