[21/ November/2019]

SANAA, Nov. 21 (Saba) - Deputy Foreign Minister, Head of the National Committee for Refugees, Hussein al-Ezzi on Thursday met with the International Organization for Migration (IOM)'s Resident Representative in Yemen Christa Rottensteiner.

During the meeting, al-Ezzi reviewed the current situation of the flow of illegal immigrants to Yemen and the implications of this phenomenon on Yemenis and Yemeni authorities, as well as on the safety of illegal immigrants.

He referred to the waves of continued illegal and uncontrolled immigration into Yemeni territories, especially through the occupied provinces with facilitates from the aggression coalition and mercenaries.

These challenges, with their security, economic, social, health, humanitarian and other consequences, come under the conditions of the continued siege imposed by the aggression countries on Yemen for nearly five years, which requires updating and developing plans of the IOM and related agencies, al-Ezzi explained.

He affirmed that facilities and support would be provided to IOM's office for the success of its tasks and activities serving the Yemeni people.

At the meeting, Rottensteiner confirmed the IOM Office's commitment to correct performance in line with its obligations and standards of humanitarian action.

She noted that the organization seeks to enhance joint coordination with the national authorities to address the phenomenon of illegal immigration and contribute to alleviating the suffering of Yemenis.
