UN disavows on agreement to open Sanaa Int.l airport for medical flights
[17/ November/2019]

SANAA, Nov. 17 (Saba) -The Director General of Sanaa International Airport,  Khaled al-Shayef confirmed that the United Nations has disavowed on agreements regarding the opening of Sanaa International Airport to operate the air bridge and medical flights, which were scheduled to begin on October 20, 2019.

Al-Shayef said in press statement  that the UN humanitarian coordinator had gave excuses that Egyptian hospitals were unable to provide treatment.

The United Nations did not have credibility in lifting the ban on Sana’a International Airport, he added.

He noted that the airport receives three flights a day from the United Nations, and there is no validity for the airport’s lack of readiness.

It is noteworthy that it was scheduled to open the Sana'a International Airport for medical flights on Saturday, after it was postponed more than once. It is one of the crimes committed, by the US-Saudi aggression, against the Yemeni People since they prevent patients from traveling abroad for treatment.

More than 60,000 Yemeni patients have died since the start of the war because of the coalition's closure of Sanaa airport, and 30 of the more than 350,000 patients who die every day need to travel abroad for treatment, including cancer, kidney failure, heart and liver.

There are Yemenis stranded abroad who have not been able to return due to the closure of Sanaa airport.
