KIRKUK,(Saba) - A suicide car bomb outside the headqarters of the Iraqi National Guard in Kirkuk on Saturday killed at least 23 men, most of whom were waiting to join the force, Kirkuk doctors said.
The street outside the national guard building was littered with bloodied bodies, debris and shards of glass. Ambulances with sirens wailing rushed to the site of the explosion and firefighters doused flames leaping up
from a burning car.
Iraqi insurgents have targeted the Iraqi security forces as part of a campaign against the U.S.-backed Iraqi government.
A car bomb near a police station in Baghdad this week killed 47, many of whom were signing up to join the Iraqi police.
