Six Entrepreneurs With Over 65 Mln. Birr Begin Activities

Assosa, June 5 (ENA)- Six entrepreneurs with a combined capital of over 65 million Birr have begun activities in Benishangul-Gumuz State this year, the State Investment Office said.

Head of Information and Public Relations with the Office, Haile-Mariam Gettu said four of the investors are engaged in agricultural development while the remaining two extract incense and gum as well as marble factory.

Haile-Mariam said the entrepreneurs engaged in agriculture have already begun farming on 4,000 hectares of land in Kamashi Zone and Mao Komo Special Woreda.

The investors have a capacity to supply cereals to the foreign market in addition to the local market.

He said incense and gum trees on 10,000 hectares of land in Assosa Zone was also provided to the investor engaged in the sector while the other licensed to produce marble began activities in Bulen Woreda of Metekel Zone.

He said more than 900 people are expected to get jobs when all the projects go fully operational.

Some 74 private investors with a combined capital of over 800 million Birr have so far been engaged in various sectors in the State, according to Haile-Mariam.
