May 2 (Saba) – Yemen's maritime site is characterized by two water fronts , From the West Red Sea and from south Arabian Sea , Gulf of Aden and Atlantic Ocean. Yemen controls an important strait" Bab al-Mandab" which controls the trade routes between East and West, it ranks third in the world after the Strait of Hormuz and Strait of Malacca in terms of quantity of oil.


Here the important ports in Yemen' seas:-


Ports in the western sea:  "Hodeidah - Ras Issa - Al-Mukhaa – Saleef".


In Gulf of Aden: "Aden - Aden Free Zone - Balhaf ".


In the Arabian Sea: " Qena/ Bar Ali - Al-Shahr - Al-Mukalla".


Yemen have several important ports "Qana- Hodeidah- Shaher- Salef-Makah-Mukklah- Blhaf-Ras Issa- Soqtra- Aden- Nashton" . The Yemeni ports have an important strategic navigational location; it is located next to the main international shipping corridor linking the navigational activity between Europe and the Far East. Yemen's ports are divided in terms of tasks into several sections." Makah,Salef and Nashton" ports it is equipped to receive goods and ships and  providing freight, unloading and storage services, three other ports to export oil and liquefied petroleum gas" Ras Issa- Shaher and Blhaf" and others eight important ports.


Aden port:   It is one of the major and important maritime ports in the Gulf of Aden. It considered one of the largest natural ports in the world and the most important commercial centers in the Gulf of Aden. The port considered the southern gate of the Red Sea, It located on the international shipping line connecting the east and the west. In the 1950s, classified as the second port in the world after New York to supply ships with fuel.


There are two areas internal and external; the inner and outer port separates the line extending along the breakwater. These facilities are accessed via a transit channel.


Aden port is the most important strategic port in the world and is the main artery of international trade, only requires port mode to trade competition with absolute transparency. There are many countries that wish to invest in this port, that means 75% billion dollars less habits and jobs for millions.


Port of Hodeidah: The second most important port in the Red Sea, which is also a historical trade center on the Yemeni coast, due to its proximity to the global shipping lines and it is protected natural protection from waves.


It is better than the port of Saudi Arabia, Sudan and the Horn of Africa if it works properly; it makes it the largest transit station with Al-Salif Port "40 million dollars" as annual income.


Balhaf port: It is in Shabwh provinces in Arabian Sea. It considered as one of the main ports for exporting oil.Located between the cities of Aden and Mukalla. It is used to export the oil of Shabwa province. The largest Yemeni facility dedicated to the export of liquefied gas, a subsidiary of Yemen LNG by "Total" French company 2009.


Makkah port: It is considered one of the most important treasures of Yemen and the Arabian Peninsula. It has been famous all over the world for exporting the finest types of Yemeni coffee.


Shahr port: it used to export oil field Mmsila largest fields of Yemen. And transfer oil to the port through a tube of capacity of 300 thousand barrels per day.


Bar Ali/Qan port:  The port is located on the Arabian Sea coast near the port of Balhaf .It is also used to export the oil of Shabwa province. Which is the arrival point of the" Shabwa-Bir Ali" pipeline, which has a capacity of 135,000 barrels per day.


Ras Isa port: Located in Hodeidah in the Red sea. It is one of the most important Yemeni oil ports. An access points for "Marib-Ras Issa" oil pipeline, which has a capacity of 200,000 barrels per day.


Port of Mukalla: The port of Mukalla is the most important sea port in the province of Hadramout , it is the only maritime port, overlooking the Arabian Sea.  It used to serve commercial and fishery traffic and oil derivatives for the province and neighboring provinces.


Nashton port:  Overlooks the Arabian Sea, located in the province of Al Mahra in the eastern façade of Yemen. It used to serve commercial and fishery traffic.


Its geographic proximity to Oman contributes to its role as a center of trade between the Gulf States.


Al-Salif Port: Located northwest of the city of Hodeidah . The port is located on a salt mine of about twenty million tons. In the past salt was exported from it. It is characterized by natural protection from the waves on the island of Kamran. The port is characterized by its ability to receive giant vessels, thanks to the great depth of the sea.  .  It receiving ships of Wheat, corn and other foodstuffs, and is equipped with silos and other equipment necessary for the reception and storage of such materials.


Yemen's poor it will be the richest countries in the world if only the Yemenis extract the oil reserves in Al-Jawf, as well as the oil  and gas reserves in Marib, Hadramout, Taiz, and other Yemen's wealth such as gold, minerals and fisheries.
