SANAA, April 30 (Saba) - Minister of Awqaf and Religious Guidance Naguib Nasser Al-Ajji on Monday discussed with the Head of Communication for Development of UNICEF the cooperation and partnership between the Ministry and the Communication for Development section of UNICEF.

The meeting tackled ways to intensify community awareness about fighting the cholera epidemic through religious and extension platforms so as to limit its spread.

It reviewed the activities of the ministry and its offices in enhancing the community awareness of the dangers of cholera, its causes and methods of prevention through the guidance campaigns carried out during the past period through speeches, lectures, religious thoughts and others,

In the meeting, the minister said that the ministry is preparing an awareness plan for the coming period, which will contribute to enhancing the community awareness of the dangers of this epidemic and ways to reduce its spread. He pointed out that attention to cleanliness and preservation of the environment is one of the most important pillars of the campaigns.

He pointed out that the ministry has carried out many activities related to awareness, such as purification of water reservoirs belonging to mosques via chlorinating , and the preparation of a program on the importance of keeping cleanliness, which is urged by the Principles and instructions of Islam, especially during the holy month of Ramadan and the issuance of circulars, raising awareness through preachers and guides in mosques...

The Minister of Awqaf expressed the hope that UNICEF will continue to support the Ministry's programs and awareness activities and emphasize the clarity and transparency in the implementation of cooperation programs between the Ministry and UNICEF.
