SANAA, April 29 (Saba) - Afghanistan Monday opened the Loya Jirga Council of Representatives of Afghan Tribes, with the participation of 3200 delegates from across the country under security measures.
Council members are participating in four-day consultations aimed at forming a national consensus and a unified negotiating position on possible peace negotiations with the Taliban.
US peace envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has held several rounds of talks with Taliban officials, who refuse to negotiate directly with the Kabul government.
