NUR-SULTAN, April 25 (Saba) - A new round of Astana talks on the situation in Syria began Thursday in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan.
The Russian news agency Sputnik said that bilateral and tripartite meetings were held on Thursday, including delegations from the guarantor countries (Russia, Turkey and Iran), as well as representatives of the Syrian government and the opposition, as well as UN envoy Geir Pedersen.
The tour began with a meeting of the Russian and Iranian delegations.
The Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan said Alexander Lavrentiev , the Russian president's special representative to Syria, heads the Russian delegation.
The 12th round of Astana talks will conclude on Friday with the adoption of a final document for negotiations.
One of the issues under discussion is the formation of a constitutional committee for Syria, in addition to discussing the issue of armed groups in Idlib.
