ANAA, March 11 (Saba) - China's civil aviation authority said on Monday it would suspend the work of all Boeing 737 Max aircraft, one day after an Ethiopian airliner of the same type crashed.
The German news agency DPA quoted the Chinese body as saying the suspension will take effect by 6 pm local time Monday, pending further investigation.
Local airlines, including Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines, are using Boeing 737 Max.
The safety of the Boeing 737 Max was questioned after Sunday's incident, which killed 157 people, as well as another crash in October of an Indonesian plane of the same type.
The agency said on its Web site that it followed the principle of zero tolerance for safety risks and indicated that it would contact the US Federal Aviation Administration.
