ASHINGTON, March 9 (Saba) - US President Donald Trump will meet his Brazilian counterpart Jaer Paulsonaro on March 19, the White House said Friday, the first such meeting between the two presidents.

The Brazilian Foreign Ministry announced the visit last month without setting a deadline.

Paulsonaro, who took office in January, has vowed to weave close ties with Washington.

"President Trump and President Paulsonaro will discuss ways to promote prosperity, security and democracy in the western hemisphere," the White House said in a statement on Friday,' it added.

"The leaders of the two largest economies in the Western hemisphere will discuss opportunities for defense cooperation, trade policies conducive to growth, combating transnational crime and restoring democracy in Venezuela," it said.

And "Finally they will discuss the key role played by the United States and Brazil in efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Venezuela," as saying.
