President to participate ICO meeting
[14/October/2003]
ADEN, Oct 14 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh headed on Tuesday for
Kula Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, to take part in 10th meeting of the
Islamic Conference Organization.
President Saleh said: "I am pleased to head the Yemeni delegation to the
10th meeting of the Islamic Conference Organization in Malaysia. The meeting
takes place in critical times facing the Moslem Ummah and require serious
efforts to create decisions that come up to ambitions of the Moslem Ummah."
He warned that without alignment, "there will be no future for the Moslem
nation."
"There is a great need to realize how important it is to see the end of
the tunnel. We in the Republic of Yemen will offer our best views of how
the Moslem Ummah should struggle to pursue its common purposes."
President Saleh said that the regrettable tragic events in Afghanistan,
Iraq and Palestine are a wake-up call for the Moslem Ummah to defend its
interests and image.
Saleh condemned the recent Israeli aggression against Syria and the air
raids on Lebanon.
He called on the Moslem Ummah to defend its image from the malicious smear
campaigns which take advantage from the misleading behaviors being ascribed
wrongly to Islam and Moslems.
Islam is a religion of love, affection and tolerance, he noted. It is
terrorism and militancy that have neither religion nor a nationality.
President Saleh is being accompanied by Chairman of the Shura Council
and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
