SANAA, Dec. 2 (Saba) - A football tournament for shool students in Sabeen district of capital Sanaa kicked off on Sunday.

The tournament is organized by the activities section of the Education Office at the district.

 The one-month tournament under the slogan "Yemen is always free" was organized on the occasion of the 51st Independence Day on 30 November.

A thousand players representing 40 public and private schools participate in tournament matches.


During the inauguration, Deputy Assistant Undersecretary of the Mayor of Capital Sanaa Abdullah Muharam praised the role played by the Education office in the district in organizing this sportive tournament and pointed to the importance of reviving this national occasion despite the circumstances that the country is going through as a result of the continued aggression and siege imposed on the country by the aggression coalition's states.

 During the inauguration, the sports teams presented a carnival presentation and the students who won the first places in the poetry competitions presented poetry poems before the audience.
