Dhamar, Nov. 27 (Saba) - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Eng. Majid Al Mutawakil and Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance for the Revenue Sector, Rashid Abu-Mehoum, discussed on Monday the activities of the General Company for the Production of Potato Seeds and the most important needs and difficulties.
During the visit, Eng. Hamdan Zaid Al-Okwa, company director, briefed the officials on the mechanisms of work in different departments and the company's efforts in providing the needs of farmers with improved seeds and selection of seeds of high quality, yield and resistance to diseases in a manner suitable to different climates.
The meeting reviewed administrative, financial and technical reforms in the company and the most important needs of spare parts, rehabilitation of production lines, future plans to expand the agricultural area of potato crop and raise productivity and the most important challenges facing the company and the plant, especially under the current circumstances.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister referred to the role played by the company in agricultural development and the enhancement of food security through the provision of improved seeds, marketing of high quality potatoes, and supporting and encouraging farmers to expand the cultivation of the potato which is important food crops.
