Mexico advances to Round of 16 in U-17 World Cup after beating Argentina

The Mexican national team has qualified for the Round of 16 at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, currently held in Doha, Qatar, after defeating Argentina 5-4 on penalties.
The match had ended 2-2 in regular time, leading directly to a penalty shootout, which Mexico won 5-4.
Argentina took the lead in the 9th minute through Ramiro Tolian, before Luis Gamboa equalized for Mexico in the 46th minute. In the 58th minute, Gamboa scored again to put Mexico ahead, but Argentina managed to level the score in the 87th minute through Fernando Colster.
The teams went to penalties, with Mexico converting all five of their attempts through Oscar Benida, José Mancilla, Karín Hernández, Ignacio López, and Santiago López. Argentina scored four out of five, with Guillermo Gómez, Fernando Colster, Matías Sattas, and Facundo Yanonski finding the net, while Gastón Bouhie missed the opening penalty.
In the next round, Mexico will face Portugal, who advanced to the Round of 16 after defeating Belgium 2-1 earlier on Friday.
