Sana’a – Saba:
The 22 May team deepened Al-Ahli Al-Hodeidah’s wounds after defeating them 4-0 in the match held this afternoon at Al-Wahda Stadium, as part of the playoff round qualifying for the Second Division Clubs League.
The first half ended with Mayo, led by coach Ali Al-Obaidi, taking the lead 1-0, thanks to an own goal by an Al-Ahli defender.
In the second half, 22 May’s Abdul Karim Al-Amari added a second goal for Mayo, followed by Abduljalil Najad scoring the third. Jamal Al-Dubai also made his mark by netting the fourth goal.
In another match during the second round, Shaab Sana’a secured a win by overcoming Azal 2-1 in the game hosted at Al-Sabeen Stadium.
Shaab’s youngsters, under coach Mohamed Al-Nufai’i, scored twice in the first half through Hamed Wahid and Haitham Al-Salami, before Azal, led by Hamir Al-Masri, reduced the deficit with a goal from Mohamed Al-Shami.
In a high-scoring match, Fath Dhammar regained their balance in the league with a dominant 6-1 victory over the struggling Shabab Al-Mahwit, worsening the latter’s plight and pushing them closer to relegation to the Third Division.
Fath Dhammar’s six goals came from Ahmed Al-Mushki (2), Abdul-Mu’min Al-Munther (2), Jarallah Al-Zughari, and Mohamed Al-Qafri, while Shabab Al-Mahwit’s lone goal was scored by Osama Al-Muntasir.
With these results, 22 May and Shaab are close to reaching the Second Division, both raising their points to six from two consecutive wins. Fath came third with three points, ahead of Azal in fourth on goal difference. Al-Ahli Al-Hodeidah and Shabab Al-Mahwit continue to struggle after their second straight losses, occupying fifth and sixth place.
The next round will define the real fight for qualification spots. Al-Wahda Stadium will host a fiery clash next Monday between Mayo and Shaab, with Mayo aiming to consolidate their lead and Shaab seeking to snatch the top spot.
Azal, now fourth, faces a crucial match against Fath Dhammar at 22 May Stadium, in a race to challenge the teams leading the push for the Second Division, as both sides hold three points, with Fath ahead on goal difference.
Finally, Al-Ahli Al-Hodeidah will play Shabab Al-Mahwit at Al-Sabeen Stadium, a last chance to improve their positions and re-enter the competition, even if only with a glimmer of hope.
