Jakarta – Saba:
Indonesian Defense Minister, Jafarri Shamsuddin, said today, Friday, that his country has two tracks to obtain approval for deploying peacekeeping forces in the Gaza Strip amid ongoing regional tensions.
The Indonesian news agency Antara quoted Shamsuddin during a meeting at the Ministry of Defense in central Jakarta: “There are two options. The first is under the auspices of the United Nations. Indonesia has long cooperated with the UN in peacekeeping operations in Africa and Lebanon.”
He added, “The second option is through an international mechanism initiated by the President of the United States of America.”
Jafarri explained that this track requires high-level diplomatic participation and agreements between heads of state, noting that Indonesia is seeking support from countries considered influential in the Gaza conflict.
He confirmed that Indonesia has prepared 20,000 personnel for this mission, including medical teams and engineers.
He expressed optimism that, with the necessary international support, Indonesia will be able to deploy its peacekeeping forces to Gaza in the near future.
