New York – Saba:
The United Nations announced on Friday that Israel has refused to allow nearly 4,000 mobile platforms of urgent humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire took effect on October 10.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said at a press briefing that Israeli authorities continue to obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
Dujarric noted that international organizations operating in the area are still facing difficulties in getting available relief supplies into the Strip.
He added: "Since the start of the ceasefire on October 10, Israeli officials have rejected requests from nine of our partners to deliver approximately 4,000 platforms of essential emergency supplies to Gaza, including tents, bedding sets, cooking utensils, and blankets."
The Gaza ceasefire agreement came into effect on October 10, following two years of sustained Israeli military aggression. However, the Israeli army continues to violate the agreement on a daily basis, preventing most humanitarian aid from reaching the Strip in breach of the accord.
