Beijing – Saba:
On Monday, the Chinese Coast Guard expelled several Philippine Coast Guard vessels and public service vessels from the territorial waters around China's Huangyan Dao, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, a Chinese Coast Guard spokesperson said.
Xinhua quoted spokesperson Gan Yu as saying, "The Philippine vessels insisted on intruding into the area in the South China Sea under the pretext of supplying fishing boats, ignoring repeated Chinese deterrence attempts and warnings."
Gan noted that the Chinese side, in response, took necessary measures—including tracking, monitoring, and interception—to expel the Philippine vessels, noting that all field operations were professional, orderly, and lawful.
The spokesperson emphasized, "Huangyan Dao is purely Chinese territory," adding, "The Chinese Coast Guard will continue to carry out rights protection and law enforcement activities in the waters of Huangyan Dao, to resolutely defend China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests."
