Women of the capital Sana’a gathered on Sunday at the People’s Mosque to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Zaid, peace be upon him.
The event was organized by the Women’s Committee of Sana’a under the theme “Insight and Jihad.”
Cultural activists Radhia al-Houthi and Mirvat al-Suwari honored the legacy of Imam Zaid, highlighting his steadfast resistance against tyranny and injustice.
They reflected on the core values of faith and jihad he established, emphasizing how these principles empower the nation to confront oppressors and defend itself against enemies.
The speakers drew attention to the nation’s current plight, marked by humiliation and degradation amid the unjust killing of Muslims and children in Gaza — a situation compounded by shameful silence and decay in the face of ongoing Israeli aggression.
Al-Houthi and Al-Suwari stressed the importance of learning from Imam Zaids' example by speaking truth to power, promoting what is right, forbidding wrong, and resisting injustice.
They also highlighted Yemen’s leadership role under the revolution’s leader, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, whose firm and principled stance against US-Zionist aggression on Gaza mirrors the courageous paths of Imam Zaid and his grandfather, Imam Hussein, in standing against tyranny and arrogance.
