The Religious Guidance Sector and the Cultural Unit in Mahweet governorate organized on Sunday a broad scholarly gathering to commemorate the anniversary of Imam Zaid’s martyrdom.
The meeting, attended by scholars, preachers, and religious guides, emphasized the religious and intellectual responsibilities facing the Islamic nation in light of current challenges.
Participants, including governorate Undersecretary Ali Abdulkarim and Deputy Head of Mobilization in the governorate Amer al-Aqhoumi, highlighted the danger of remaining silent, which they said only serves the enemies of Islam.
Speakers affirmed that Imam Zaid’s legacy represents a model of speaking truth to power and remaining steadfast in upholding principles. They called on scholars and preachers to play a leading role in raising public awareness and reinforcing Islamic values—particularly in light of the ongoing Zionist crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The gathering concluded with a statement delivered by head of the Religious Guidance and Cultural Unit in the governorate Scholar Abdulghani al-Darb, summarizing the event’s key themes and objectives. He stressed that commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Zaid serves as an opportunity for mobilization, reflection, and guidance.
The statement called for activating religious platforms and discourse, enhancing coordination among scholars and preachers to confront the soft war targeting the nation’s identity and awareness.
It also affirmed the continuation of regular scholarly meetings and expanding awareness programs focusing on core issues, particularly Palestine and Yemen.
The statement urged greater involvement from youth, educators, and cultural activists, and underlined the vital role of mosques in promoting awareness and countering ideological and moral deviations.
