Gaza - Saba:
Palestinian footballer Hamada Saleh, a player for Al-Ahly Club in Gaza, has put his sports shoes up for sale in order to buy a meal for his family, which, like many others in Gaza, is suffering from severe famine due to the ongoing Israeli blockade that has lasted more than 20 consecutive months.
According to Sanad News Agency on Sunday, the top scorer of Al-Ahly Palestine posted a photo of his football shoes on his personal Facebook account, writing: "Sadly, this is all that remains of my football memories... for sale!"
Athletes in Gaza are facing dire economic conditions due to the loss of their only source of income after all sports activities were suspended. The war has shattered the dreams and future of hundreds of them.
The people of Gaza continue to suffer from severe malnutrition and hunger as a result of the ongoing Israeli war on the Strip since October 7, 2023. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of deaths due to hunger and malnutrition has reached 620.
