Bayda - Saba:
The governors of Bayda and Abyan, Abdullah Idris and Saleh al-Janidi respectively, alongside Chairman of the Yemen News Agency (Saba) Nasr al-Din Amer, and the Military Committee, on Saturday inaugurated the opening of Thera pass road linking the two provinces, following the removal of all obstacles and war debris.
Governor Abdullah Idris affirmed that reopening the road in Thera ass is a direct implementation of directives from Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi and President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat.
The move aims to alleviate the suffering of residents of Bayda and Abyan and travelers, who have long endured difficulties due to detours on alternate routes.
He expressed hope that the opposing party will respond positively to this step, which serves citizens burdened by road closures. "We declared one year ago our intent to open this road, and today, alongside political, military, local, and security leaders, we are here to inaugurate its reopening," he said.
Idris commended the efforts of the Military Engineering Unit and the Executive Unit in Bayda governorate for clearing debris that hindered traffic flow.
Governor Saleh al-Janidi praised the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council for their commitment to reopening roads to ease citizens’ hardships amid the ongoing aggression and blockade. He also lauded all parties contributing to the success of this humanitarian mission.
Nasr al-Din Amer noted that this marks his second visit to the road to confirm the government’s full readiness in Sana’a to keep the road open from one side. He stated that vehicles can now pass freely unless the opposing party opens its side as well.
“We announced this initiative previously, and today we reaffirm it with all obstacles removed—the road is ready on our side. It is now up to the other party to open the road for the people’s benefit, away from any political motives,” Amer said.
He emphasized that reopening the road reflects the leadership’s awareness of citizens’ suffering and their determination to alleviate it without politicization, expressing hope for a positive response from the opposing side.
Deputy Chairman of the Military Committee Brigadier General Hussein al-Daif highlighted ongoing coordination and efforts to open the road per leadership directives, with close follow-up by the Chief of Staff.
He underscored the road’s strategic importance as a vital link between Bayda and Abyan provinces, noting it was cut off in recent years due to the aggression and lack of cooperation by the opposing side with the Sana’a leadership’s initiatives.
Director of Mukayras district Yasser Jahlan, along with security leaders, thanked the Leader of the Revolution for his esteemed directives to open the road, stating the move is crucial in reducing citizens’ hardships and called on the other party to reciprocate by opening their side promptly.
Attendees also praised the role of the Commander of the Seventh Military Region and Mukayras Axis leadership for their cooperation in facilitating the reopening operations.
