Singapore – Saba:
German Florian Welbrouck secured his third gold medal of the ongoing World Aquatics Championships in Singapore on Saturday, winning the men's 3-kilometer sprint race.
Welbrouck finished the race with a time of 5 minutes and 46 seconds, narrowly defeating Hungary’s David Bethleim, who took silver by 1.7 seconds. French swimmer Marc-Antoine Ollivier claimed the bronze medal.
This victory follows Welbrouck’s gold in the 5-kilometer open water race on Friday, just two days after his triumph in the 10-kilometer event.
Earlier in the competition, Japan’s 21-year-old Ichika Kajimoto won the women’s 3-kilometer sprint gold medal. She completed the race in 6 minutes and 19.90 seconds, besting Italy’s Ginevra Tadiotchi by two seconds. Australian Mouchea Johnson and Hungarian Bettina Fabian shared the third-place position.
