A document was signed in Ezzat Aras in Yarim district, Ibb province, to prevent urban sprawl on agricultural lands.
This came during an expanded meeting held in the directorate, which included the Secretary General of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Engineer Muhammad al-Qahum, the local council leadership in the directorate, the mobilization and judicial authority, and a number of social figures in the directorate.
The meeting addressed aspects related to the danger of urban sprawl , construction on agricultural lands, and emphasized the signing of a document to limit this phenomenon, which threatens large areas of agricultural lands in the bottom of field.
In the meeting, the Secretary General of the Agricultural Cooperative Union pointed out the danger of urban expansion on agricultural lands in the bottoms and valleys, as this poses a threat to the agriculture future.
The director of the directorate, Mohammed al-Khaled, emphasized the importance of stopping urban sprawl, noting that the local council in the directorate has identified a number of areas and valleys as areas where construction is prohibited.
For his part, the Deputy Prosecutor of Yarim and Al-Radma, Judge Abdulwali Allaw, referred to the damages resulting from urban expansion at the expense of agricultural lands, its negative effects on the environmental and economic levels, and the loss of sources of income for families dependent on agriculture.
