A meeting in Sana'a province on Thursday assessed the performance of the Economy, Industry, and Investment Office's oversight committees during the first ten days of Ramadan.
Chaired by province undersecretary Faris al-Kuhali, the meeting, attended by Economy and Industry Office Director Fahd al-Gharbani and other officials, reviewed the committees' activities and field oversight plan to maintain price and supply stability and protect consumers.
Director al-Gharbani presented a report detailing the field committees' inspections of markets, shops, and commercial establishments in Sana'a Governorate's districts. The report highlighted that 880 establishments were inspected to ensure product safety, price advertising, and compliance with Ministry-set price ceilings.
Inspections also targeted bakeries and retail outlets to ensure adherence to health requirements and the sale of bread at specified weights and prices. 58 commercial violations were detected, including non-advertising, price tag discrepancies, expired goods, underweight loaves, and refusal to comply with inspections. 41 violation reports were adjudicated, resulting in 855,000 YER in fines, while 17 violations are pending.
The province undersecretary al-Kuhali praised the Economy and Industry Office's efforts in maintaining food supply stability and apprehending violators. He emphasized the province's support for field inspection campaigns to protect consumers and ensure market stability, particularly during Ramadan.
He also stressed the importance of continuing the boycott of American and Israeli products as part of the "Promised Victory and Holy Jihad" battle.
