SANA'A, Feb. 26 (Saba) - President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi on Wednesday received a delegation of French energy giant Total chaired by resident of Middle East, Exploration & Production Division at Total Stephane Michel.
During the meeting, both sides discussed field functioning and development of production and exportation in Yemen’s gas sector.
President Hadi stressed the importance of increasing production and exportation to respond to the increasing demands and repercussions of the 2011 crisis at various levels.
He emphasized that it is important to increase productions and raise the prices in line with world prices, pointing out that popular pressures are mounting on the government to alert Yemen’s gas prices in line with the world prices.
“Gas prices must be modified in order to meet aspirations of Yemenis and aims of Yemen’s peaceful revolution.” Hadi added.
Hadi stressed the importance of cooperation and common understanding with total, citing that Total is among the most major investors in Yemen.
For his part, Stephane stated that he came to Yemen in order to negotiate on Yemen’s gas prices and tackle outstanding problematic situations and modifying prices in the manner that guarantees interests of both sides.
He said that 2015 will witness considerable development in the field of gas exploration and productions so as to meet Yemen’s needs of sustainable development.
Yemeni officials including Deputy Minister of Oil and Minerals Ahmed Basrih and Director of Total in Yemen Elias Qisees attended the meeting.
