Gaza - Saba:
The UN Humanitarian Coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territory Muhannad Hadi expressed on Friday his concern about the "rapid deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation in Gaza," noting that "civilians are paying the price for the ongoing war."
Hadi said in a statement that the Zionist raids in recent days on the Gaza Strip have resulted in many casualties, including women and children, adding that this is "an additional reminder of the unbearable human cost of war."
Hadi also expressed his concern "about the unacceptably unsafe environment in Gaza that continues to negatively impact UN aid convoys," noting that "attacks that undermine humanitarian operations are unacceptable, those attacks threaten the survival of those in dire need of assistance."
He stressed the UN's commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, adding: "We are working around the clock to provide vital assistance to families who have nothing after 14 months of war."
He stressed that “the principles of distinction, proportionality and precautions in attacks must be respected at all times,” calling for ensuring the protection of civilians and ensuring safe and unhindered passage of humanitarian aid. “The United Nations remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting efforts for an immediate ceasefire and the unconditional release of all hostages,” Hadi said, adding: “Urgent action is urgently needed to end the atrocities, address the root causes of the conflict, and preserve the lives and dignity of all people in the region
