Sana'a – Saba:

The Sana'a Capital is carrying out extensive efforts to light streets, gardens, and tunnels using solar energy as part of projects aimed at improving services and showcasing the city's aesthetic and civilizational appearance.

The solar-powered lighting project is a practical implementation of the leadership's commitment and the Supreme Political Council's focus, in addition to the vision of the Government of Change and Reconstruction. It aims to execute service and developmental projects that directly affect the daily lives of citizens and meet their needs across various sectors while fostering local development.

The lighting project, valued at 278 million riyals and funded by the local council of the municipality, involves the installation of 544 solar-powered 100-watt lamps across several main streets, parks, bridges, and tunnels in various districts.

The works carried out by the Executive Unit for the Construction, Maintenance, and Development of Roads and Public Places, under the supervision of the Sector of Works and Projects, include lighting the targeted streets in different districts to improve visibility and public safety.

Dr. Hamoud Obad, the Secretary-General of the Capital, explained that the municipality is executing several projects in the areas of street rehabilitation, asphalting, lighting, safety, traffic improvements, cleanliness, water, sewage, and drainage systems, all of which serve citizens and enhance the quality of services provided to them.

He highlighted the diligent efforts of the local authority's leadership and its priorities and plans aimed at improving services, and infrastructure, and supporting the development and construction process, all in line with the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council.

Obad confirmed the commitment to intensifying efforts to improve performance, provide services to citizens, continue executing service and development projects across all districts, and overcome challenges to achieve the desired development.

The Sector of Works and Projects, along with the Executive Unit for Restorations, has urged the intensification of efforts to improve, maintain, and light the streets, as well as to complete service projects that facilitate traffic movement and maintain the aesthetic appearance of the capital.

The Secretary-General of the Capital praised the efforts of the field teams in carrying out street, garden, and tunnel lighting with solar energy, as well as in repairing and maintaining the poles during the past period.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Executive Unit for the Construction, Maintenance, and Development of Roads and Public Places in the capital, Engineer Abdulmalik Al-Ansi, and the Director of Lighting at the Works Office, Engineer Tha'er Al-Absi, confirmed that the field teams are continuing their work of installing and operating new lamps in the targeted streets and areas according to the project plan.

They mentioned that the solar lighting works have included the streets of Jader and south of the Thawra Stadium, starting from Saada Street up to the airport tunnel, the Nasr Bridge, the Thawra Park, and also the Arab League Street, starting from the Nasr Roundabout to the leadership tunnel.

Al-Ansi and Al-Absi noted that in recent days, the technical teams have targeted the installation of lamps and lighting on the Armored Vehicles Street, which extends from Al-Daieri Road to the Quds Roundabout Tunnel, and from the Asr Intersection to Al-Khamseen Street and Al-Senina area in the Ma'in District, as well as the area around the Republican Palace.

They emphasized the importance of implementing the project to improve the lighting of streets, main intersections, and tunnels using solar energy.
