Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized that his country is not the one who cut ties with the United States. "If Washington wants to have a sincere conversation with Moscow, it will not be up to Russia," he said.
Lavrov said at a press conference on Thursday in Kazakh capital Astana, which he is currently visiting: "We will see if there are proposals for dialogue, we did not cut ties and it is not for us to suggest resuming them, but if there is an initiative to sit down and talk honestly, without any unilateral demands or diktats, about where we are and how we should move forward, it will not be up to us," Lavrov said at a press conference on Thursday in the Kazakh capital Astana.
"I am starting from the fact that the US administration would be interested in appointing a new ambassador, and we will not create any obstacles," he added.
"If there are concrete sound ideas, we will be ready to listen to them, but so far we hear from Brussels and other European capitals only the same talk about how there is no alternative to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's peace formula, which is a dead end," he explained.
