BAYDA November 21. 2023 (Saba) - The Governor of Al-Bayda, Abdullah Idris, and the head of the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums, Abbad Al-Hayal, reviewed on Tuesday the antiquities in the archaeological city of Hasi in Al-Sawma'ah district and the buildings of Shammar Castle in the city of Al-Bayda.
Idris and Al-Hayal, along with the governor’s representative, Mutahar Al-Maori, also reviewed the requirements for preserving the antiquities in the city of Hasi in the minaret, the Himyarite inscriptions, the urban ruins and its walls, and the buildings of the Shammar Castle in the city of Al-Bayda and its most important needs, in addition to protecting the homes of the city on which the castle is located and avoiding collapses in some of its walls.
During the visit, the Governor of Al-Bayda stressed his keenness to protect historical monuments, restore them according to the archaeological style, and preserve them from extinction and tampering.
He pointed out that the local authority is in the process of completing the necessary studies and searching for financiers to restore castles and forts while preserving their historical and archaeological character.
The Governor of Al-Bayda called on everyone to cooperate to protect the antiquities and inscriptions and not to harm them, and to work for the community’s contribution to restoring what can be restored according to capabilities.
For his part, the head of the Antiquities and Museums Authority, Al-Hayal, explained that the visit to the ancient cities, castles and historical forts in the governorate translates the directives of the revolutionary leadership in paying attention to these historical monuments whose roots are deep in Yemeni history.
He appreciated the interest of the leadership of Al Bayda Governorate in the monuments and monuments and the search for funding to maintain them while at the same time protecting them from any tampering people who do not realize their humanitarian and historical importance.
In turn, the director of the authority’s branch in the governorate, Khaled Al-Nawi, pointed out the need to enhance community awareness of the importance of antiquities and their preservation.
They were accompanied during the visit by the Director of Al-Bayda City Directorate, Ahmed Al-Rasas, and the Authority’s branches, Khaled Al-Yatma.
