Court convicts 3 Qaeda members for plotting to murder the President

SANA'A, Sep. 15 (Saba) - The court of first instance in Sana'a sentenced on Sunday three al-Qaeda members to between 1-7 years in jail, convicted of plotting to assassin the President, security officers and diplomats.

The court's head Judge Hilal Hamed sentenced Abdullah al-Khaishani o seven year in prison, five year to Maher al-Romaim and one year to Omar al-Najar to begin from the arrest date. The fourth accused "Adel al-Khawlani" was released on time served.

The penal prosecution charged the four accused with involving during 2011 and 4 January 2013 in an armed gang linked to al-Qaeda. According to the prosecution, al-Khaishani and al-Romaim were accused of monitoring, planning and preparing for murdering President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, as moving into or out of his house by two car bombs.

Al-Khaishani, al-Najar and al-Khawlani were also charged with planning and preparing for killing security officers and individuals and the US ambassador in Sana'a, as well as kidnapping foreigners for ransom.
