SANA'A February 6. 2023 (Saba) - Minister of Human Rights Ali Al-Dailami discussed on Monday with Human Rights Officer at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Safeer Al-Din, ways to enhance coordination and joint work between the Ministry and the Commission.

In the meeting, which was attended by the directors of a number of departments in the ministry, Al-Dailami confirmed that the ministry is working to evaluate the work of the Commission during the past period and the reports issued by it regarding the human rights situation in Yemen in light of the continued aggression and siege.

He touched on the failure of the United Nations to fulfill its humanitarian obligations, which helped and encouraged the aggression coalition to commit more crimes and violations, pointing out that the aggression continues to commit crimes and violations and tighten the siege, and refuses to pay salaries from the proceeds of the looted Yemeni wealth.

The Minister of Human Rights stated that the forces of aggression are still continuing to target citizens in the border areas and villages, which necessitates the High Commissioner to carry out its international humanitarian responsibilities, whether through peace or war.

He expressed his hope that there would be an accurate clarification by the Commission of the nature of its work and the complementarity of humanitarian roles between it and the Ministry of Human Rights.. stressing that the Ministry goes beyond focusing on the crimes of the aggression coalition to effective humanitarian action in all files with a humanitarian dimension, and it has been accomplished during the periods The past is a lot of issues and dealt with a lot of problems.

He called on the High Commissioner for the need to deal positively with the ministry and the data it provides, as it is the authority concerned with that.. indicating that the Yemenis hope that the reports issued by the Commission and international humanitarian bodies will deal with the crimes and violations committed by the aggression coalition with integrity and impartiality.

Al-Dailami reviewed a number of crimes and violations committed by the aggression coalition since the beginning of this year, expressing his hope that there will be a pressuring international position on the countries of aggression and fair to the Yemeni people, especially the groups most affected by the crimes of aggression and siege. He also reviewed the conditions of prisons and their humanitarian needs.

For his part, Safeer Al-Din affirmed that the Commission will spare no effort in documenting all incidents and violations and will work in accordance with international law in this context after collecting and verifying information, expressing his regret for the reality of vital sectors such as health, food and education.

He expressed his hope for the success of peace efforts in Yemen, pointing out that the Commission will contribute during the current year to support and capacity building through a number of programs and courses, and will work to arrange a meeting with donors to improve the conditions of prisons and the most affected sectors.
