HODEIDA January 26. 2023 (Saba) - Al-Lahia Fish Center in Al-Hodeida province received today, Thursday,23 fishermen, after detaining them and placing them in the aggression mercenaries' prisons for five days.
The Ports and Landing Center Director General, Aziz Al-Atini, and the Deputy Director-General of the General Authority for Fisheries, Muhammad Al-Omeisy, stated that 23 fishermen were received after their release from the prisons of the aggression mercenaries , and their boat and fishing equipment were confiscated.
Al-Atini and Al-Omaisi renewed their condemnation and denunciation of the repetition of such violations and criminal practices carried out by the aggression coalition and its pirates against fishermen, including kidnapping, physical assaults, confiscation of their boats, and not allowing them to practice the fishing profession in Yemeni territorial waters.
They stressed that the acts of piracy committed against fishermen in the Red Sea are among the war crimes against Yemen in light of a shameful international silence, calling on the United Nations and the relevant organizations to take a responsible stance towards these violations and to protect the fishermen, for whom the sea is a source of livelihood for them and their families.
While the released fishermen explained that a group of the aggression mercenaries kidnapped them while they were fishing on Ardin Island, took them to Tarfa Island, detained them for five days and threatened them not to come to the island again, in addition to torturing them before their release, photographing them and documenting their photos with them.
