HODEIDA December 07. 2022 (Saba) - The head of the National Redeployment Team (HNRT), Major General Ali Al-Moshki, and members of the team reassured Major General Michael Beary, Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC) and Head of the United Nations Mission (UNM) to support Al-Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) as a result of a mine explosion near him while he was passing through the July 7 area, east of Hodeid city.

According to informed officials, a mine from the aggression's remnants exploded in the July 7 area while the United Nations Mission in Hodeida, along with a team from the National Mine Action Center, was traveling to destroy mines that had been cleared during the last period, without the explosion resulting in any casualties, while a vehicle belonging to the mission was damaged. Almost total destruction.

During the visit, Major General Al-Moshki expressed his hope that the UN mission would play its role in pressuring the aggression countries to allow the introduction of the demining mechanisms held in Djibouti.

He said: "Mines, bombs of the aggression coalition, unexploded ordnance, and cluster bombs spread in most provinces kill many citizens and children, whether when they pass through minefields planted by mercenaries or while grazing."

He pointed out that cluster bombs spread in many farms, hills, and fields pose a danger, and a threat to citizens' lives in Sa'ada, Hajjah, Al-Hodeida, Al-Bayda, Al-Jawf, the directorates of Marib and other provinces.

Al-Moshki indicated that the Executive Center for Demining is making great efforts in dealing with the remnants of the aggression in clearing mines, explaining that the center has reached the stage of raising dangers awareness of mines and other remnants of bombs and missiles.

He praised the efforts of the Executive Center for Demining and the technical teams in removing mines, despite the risks they are exposed to.

He pointed out that the center is facing difficulties because the aggression coalition prevented the entry of mine detectors, despite the center's request to international organizations to intervene and play their humanitarian role in this aspect, which hinders the center from carrying out the tasks entrusted to it in clearing the land from minefields, which forced it to seize many areas and work Warning panels.

For his part, a member of the National Redeployment Team, Major General Muhammad al-Qadri, expressed hope for finding practical solutions to this problem, pointing out that mines and cluster bombs pose a constant threat to the people, present and in the future, especially Hodeida province, where mines are widely spread.

Al-Qadri explained that Hodeida has become almost the first number of mine victims terms, and life will not return to normal in the liberated areas until after clearing the mined areas and securing the return of citizens to their areas.
