JAWF, Aug.05 (Saba) - Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation Ibrahim Al-Hamli and the Governor of Jawf, Faisal Haider, have inspected the amount of damage to homes in a number of areas in Jawf, due to heavy rains over the past two days.

The Secretary-General of the Council, the Deputy Minister of Local Administration, Qassem Al-Homran, the Head of the Civil Defense Service, Major General Abdel Fattah Al-Madani, the Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Sajjad Mohamed Sajid, and representatives of international and local organizations, from the citizens, to explain the damage to homes, shops and farms as a result of rain and flood rain.

They viewed the damaged houses in al-Hazm District, which requires opening water drainage channels and other measures to alleviate the suffering of citizens in the district and other districts.

Al-Hamli pointed out that the visit to Jawf province was aimed at examining the extent of the damage and the actual need for reality so that the Council could work with organizations and humanitarian partners on the projects and activities that need to be submitted to contribute to alleviating the suffering of those affected.

The Council had worked with humanitarian partners to provide urgent shelter assistance to those affected by floods.

Emergency shelter assistance targeted the affected families of Al-Hazm District, provided by the Yemeni Red Crescent and Yemen Al-Khair Organization, which is part of the emergency response to the relief of groups affected by the rains, including blankets, brushes, household items, sanitary and hygiene items.

For his part, the Governor of Jawf pointed to the need to work to provide the district’s needs of service and emergency projects and to develop solutions to the suffering of the displaced and affected people whose homes were destroyed by the flood rains.

Representatives of international and local organizations indicated that the visit to Jawf province comes to see the extent of the damage and needs and to work on implementing activities in coordination with the Supreme Council that contribute to alleviating the suffering of citizens.
