UN pledges to provide projects worth $5 M for Jawf
[03/August/2021]

JAWF, Aug. 03 (Saba) - United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator William Gressly has pledged to provide projects with an initial value of $ 5 million for Jawf province.

Gressly's statement came upon his visit to the province, during which he was briefed by Jawf governor Faisal bin Haider and the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation AbdulMohsen Tawoos on the needs of the al-Hazm General Hospital in terms of medical devices and cadres.

The UN official expressed his shock of what he had seen in the province amid the great suffering of the province's people, stressing the importance of concentrating efforts to alleviate their suffering.

In return, Jawf governor pointed to the importance of cooperation and support of humanitarian organizations to implement relief and development projects in Jawf, pointing to the suffering of citizens as a result of the continuation of the aggression and the repercussions of the siege and the extent of the destruction left by the aerial bombardment of the aggression on infrastructure, houses and farms.

While Tawoos expressed the council's readiness to provide all facilities for the UN organizations to expand their activities in the province in a way that contributes to alleviating the suffering of citizens.

He expressed his hope that the donors would speed up providing the necessary funding to implement humanitarian and service projects in the province, pointing to the provinces' lack of development projects, as it was deprived during the previous regimes of the simplest service projects.
