YPC: Detention of fuel ships doubled suffering of Yemeni people
YPC: Detention of fuel ships doubled suffering of Yemeni people
YPC: Detention of fuel ships doubled suffering of Yemeni people
[07/June/2021]

SANA'A, Jun. 07 (Saba) - The Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC) said on Monday that the suffering of the Yemeni people has reached an unprecedented stage, as a result of the continued detention of oil derivatives ships by the US-Saudi aggression coalition.

During a vigil for the company's employees and the vital and service sectors in front of the United Nations office in Sana’a today, the company’s official spokesman, Issam Al-Mutawakel, indicated the need for the United Nations to intervene and carry out its duty to release the fuel ships.

Al-Mutawakel called for quickly separating the humanitarian file from the political and military file in order to alleviate the human suffering of the Yemeni people.

He affirmed that the US-Saudi aggression coalition is still holding fuel ships, referring that during the last period only two ships were released, one of which is diesel and the other is mazut.

The total fines incurred by these ships exceeded eight million dollars, equivalent to five billion Yemeni riyals, he added.

A statement, issued during the vigil, held the international community and the United Nations fully responsible for the situation in Yemen due to the continued detention of fuel ships.

The statement renewed the call for the free people of the world to pressure towards stopping the maritime piracy on the fuel ships practiced by the US-Saudi aggression coalition with UN cover.
