[17/February/2021]

SANA'A, Feb. 17 (Saba) - Foreign Affairs Minister Hisham Sharaf has met newly-appointed resident representative of the World Health Organization in the capital Sana'a Adham Rashad Abdel Moneim.

In the meeting held on Tuesday, Sharaf stressed the keenness to provide all facilities to the new resident representative of the WHO to assist him to succeed in his duties in Yemen.

Sharaf said the aggression coalition is trying to harm the Yemeni people by adopting a provocative policy and a criminal war targeting food, fuel, health, and water supplies.

Minister Sharaf pointed out the criminal war policy of the US-Saudi aggression coalition has caused the greatest humanitarian catastrophe for the Yemeni people.

The minister added Sana'a values the contribution of the WHO within the framework of the United Nations in lessening the effects of the humanitarian disaster caused by the aggression and the comprehensive blockade imposed on Yemen six years ago.

Sana'a is surprised by the United Nations and the international community of being ignored about the crimes of the US-Saudi coalition, which amount to war crimes against humanity, he said, adding while there is an international concern in the event Sana'a exercises its right to defend Yemen and its people.

The Minister wished the representative of the WHO success in his future duties during his tenure in Yemen.

For his part, Abdel Moneim indicated he would make every effort with his colleagues in the WHO's office in Sana'a to provide the necessary assistance for the Yemeni people.
