YOC: Yemen lost over YR 27 bln due to oil ships detention
[26/September/2020]

SANAA, Sep. 26 (Saba) - The Yemeni Oil Company (YOC) said that the Yemeni people has lost over YR 27 billion due to the continued detention of oil ships for six months.

Almost 19 ships are still being held by the aggression coalition for 4 - 6 months, YOC Executive Director Eng. Ammar Al-Adhru'ai said in a protest held by the company's employees on Friday in front of the United Nations office in Sana'a aiming to break the unjust siege.

He said that the aggression coalition is still holding the oil ships and does not allow them to dock in Hodeida post despite having entry permits.

The YOC executive director said that 2,000 fuel stations are completely closed, 3,500 oil truck stopped, three factories are suspended, in addition to hundreds of citizens' cars and businesses.

Al-Adhru'ai held the aggression's countries and the United Nations fully responsible for the suspension of many facilities and hospitals, increasing the suffering of the Yemeni people due to the continued seizure of oil ships.

The YOC's employees confirmed that they would continue to protest until the ships are released, stressing that activities and businesses in all vital and service sectors are threatened to be suspended if the oil ships detention continues.
