[21/June/2020]

SANAA, June. 20 (Saba) - Military clashes between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (NTC) militia and the so-called "legitimacy" forces from Saudi Arabia have escalated in a number of occupied southern provinces, particularly Socotra and Abyan.

Clashes between the NTC militias and the so-called legitimacy forces resumed yesterday, with transitional artillery shelling the homes of citizens in Hadebo, the center of the province, amid appeals from residents to rescue them and protect Socotra, a World Heritage Site, from the tampering of the forces of aggression.

According to local sources, the occupying Saudi forces never lift a finger, when the transitional militia shelled the homes of citizens despite their proximity to their places of residence.

Socotra's sons are demanding the departure of the UAE- Saudi-led coalition, whose aims and ambitions for control of the islands and strategic waterways have been revealed and its indifference to the suffering of the citizens.

Clashes in Abyan:

The armed clashes between the forces of aggression in the Sheikh Salem and al-Taria areas of Abyan province were also renewed yesterday and today, using heavy and medium-sized weapons, killing and injuring dozens.

Abyan province has been the scene of armed clashes since past mid-May, after the Transitional Militia refused to withdraw from The City of Zinjibar district, the center of the province, in return for the withdrawal of units from the so-called "legitimacy" forces from the city of Shaqra, adjacent to the city of Zinjibar.

The statements issued by the conflicting parties reveal another aspect of the escalating tension, indicating the rifts between the two countries of aggression Saudi Arabia and the UAE and the possibility of proxy military battles and confrontations, especially after the declaration of the transitional state of emergency and the self-administration of the southern provinces in late April.

Following that announcement, Aden witnessed a "massive deployment" of security and military forces of the Southern Transitional Council, and the Council announced control of government institutions and facilities in Aden province as well as Aden ports and international airport, as well as the looting of billions of riyals of printed currency abroad.

Third coup:

This is the third coup declared by UAE-backed separatists, with Abu Dhabi supporting the so-called "historic Aden Declaration ", in response to Hadi's dismissal of former Aden governor Idros al-Zubeidi, in the fourth of May. 2017.

In August 2019, the NTC overturned for the second time after declaring "general mobilization" and calling on its supporters to surround the Ma'ashik presidential palace, where it was overrun, the camps were taken over and the ministers of the so-called legitimacy were expelled from Aden.

Deep divisions:

The occupied provinces are witnessing deep divisions between the forces of aggression, as the situation is no longer hidden, as there is no particular force controlling these provinces.

The implementation of the so-called "Riyadh Agreement" between the forces of aggression stalled after the August 2019 clashes, particularly the military-related items, and the two sides accuse them of not complying with the agreement.

Degradation of services:

Aden province has seen widespread protests over the deterioration of basic services and the collapse of the health sector, and protesters have called for better electricity, water and medical services.

The recent rains have plunged the city into the quagmire in the absence of the occupation authorities and their failure to provide even a fraction of the necessary services.

These protests come against the backdrop of the failure of the Saudi occupation and the so-called legitimate government and the Southern Transitional Council to provide basic services, improve health and work to lift the city out of the tragedy it is experiencing due to the outbreak of diseases and epidemics.

The governor of Aden warns:

Aden Governor Tarek Mustafa Salam said developments on the ground and military in the southern provinces are casting a disastrous shadow over the conditions and livelihoods of citizens.

He noted that the occupier wanted the southern provinces to remain mired in wars and conflicts so that they could complete their destructive scheme and plunder wealth, which would exacerbate the suffering of citizens and their loss of the most basic necessities of life.

The Governor of Aden warned of the consequences of fighting between mercenary factions in the occupied southern provinces and their effects on the lives of citizens, especially with the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

In the light of these events and armed confrontations, citizens in the occupied governorates remain the only loser in the battle for life, struggling with tragic humanitarian conditions, particularly in Aden, where epidemics are being decimated by Corona with a lack of basic services.
