[22/April/2020]

SANAA, April 21 (Saba) – Speaker of the Shura Council Mohammed al-Aidarous met on Tuesday with the United Nations Resident Representative, Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Lise Grande.

The meeting discussed the Humanitarian Coordinator Office's activities and its efforts to combat Corona virus, as well as the difficulties facing its work and ways to overcome them.

At the meeting, al-Aidarous praised the efforts made the Humanitarian Coordinator in the framework of relief and humanitarian work to alleviate the suffering caused by the continued aggression and the siege.

Al-Aidarous touched on the comprehensive solution document to end the war on Yemen presented by the leadership of the Republic of Yemen in Sanaa, which requires to be implemented urgently, especially with regards to the humanitarian and economic measures in light of the Corona pandemic.

He called on the United Nations to bear responsibility in pressuring towards the peaceful choice to end the aggression and the blockade.

Grande reviewed the support provided by the UN for combating Coronavirus in Yemen through supporting 120 inspection and quarantine centers at the outlets supervised by the National Salvation Government, and training 400 rapid response teams to confront the epidemic.

She affirmed that the talk on peace should be accompanied by ending the air, land and sea blockade, paying salaries of employees and strengthening the confidence-building measures.
