SANAA, Feb. 23 (Saba) - President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat on Sunday unveiled four new air defense systems: Thaqeb 1, Thaqeb 2, Thaqeb 3 and Fater 1, which were developed with purely Yemeni expertise.
During the opening of the exhibition of martyr Abdulaziz Al-Mahram for air defenses, in the presence of members of the Supreme Political Council and the presidents of the Houses of Parliament Yahya al-Ra'i and ministers Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor briefed the President on the models of the exhibition of new air defense systems that entered service after It was successfully tested.
President Al-Mashat and the leaders of the Minister of Defense, Major General Mohammed al-Atify, Chief of General Staff Maj. Gen. Mohammed al-Ghumari and Spokesman of the Army Brigadier General Yahya Sarie, listened to an explanation about the technical and tactical characteristics of the defense systems and the stages of their development and testing processes. which proved to be capable of hitting targets with high accuracy.
Al-Mashat and the audience watched a documentary on the stages of the development and modernization of air defence systems during five years of aggression and scenes of the effectiveness and success of these defense systems in hitting their targets during their testing stages.
President Al-Mashat praised the efforts of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the Head of the General Staff in various fields, including the development and modernization of the military industry system in line with the requirements of the battle of confrontation and response and deterrence of the forces of aggression.
He pointed out that this qualitative achievement, which came as a translation of the promise of the leader of the revolution Mr. Abdul Malik al-Houthi in strengthening and developing defense capabilities and confirming that the year 2020 will be a year of air defense, will represent a qualitative addition to the construction and modernization of defense capabilities.
These new defense systems will change the course of the battle and It will be an introduction to more sophisticated and effective defense systems in countering hostile air targets, he said.
He stressed that the high political and military leadership will provide all support for the development and modernization of the defense system to achieve a balance of deterrence with the enemy.
