Politicians Stress Escalation by US-Saudi Aggression Obstructs Peace Efforts
[04/February/2020]

SANAA, Feb. 4 (Saba) –The “unwinnable” conflict in Yemen is worsening, with 20 million Yemenis lacking enough food and only marginal changes in power dynamics since fighting broke out in 2015, top United Nations officials warned the Security Council , amid calls for parties to fully implement the Stockholm and Hodeidah Agreements designed to end the acute humanitarian crisis.

Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi met two days ago Martin Griffiths, the UN envoy to Yemen, and during the meeting, he stressed that the repeated attacks by the US-Saudi aggression, including continued air strikes and military repression, hinder all efforts that are being made to achieve peace.

In the meeting, Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi stressed that the siege is the cause of the humanitarian and economic disasters effecting the Yemeni people.

Griffiths, also, reminded the importance of overcoming the lack of progress in the prisoners and detainees exchange issue. He explained the urgency of finding solutions for all war prisoners.

Yemen's  national delegation said his Government has already demonstrated flexibility and commitment, notably by participating in all rounds of talks under United Nations auspices “even though we know that these U.S.-Saudi Alliance do not believe in dialogue or talks”.

The  alliance disrespect the Stockholm and Hodeidah Agreements and misappropriate life-saving aid .

“They want to sow discrimination and division within Yemeni society,”  Yemen's  national delegation said,

The U.S.-Saudi Alliance continue to target women and children, while the international community shirks its responsibility.  Their disregard for international decisions is further proof that they do not believe in peace.

The U.S.-Saudi Alliance offensives signal “their explicit rejection of peace efforts,” they said.
