Yemen has suffered enough, peace process must be pushed forward: UN Envoy
[23/January/2020]

AMMAN, Jan. 23 (Saba) – Special Envoy of the United Nations to Yemen Martin Griffiths on Thursday said that Yemen has suffered enough and the peace process must be pushed forward.

In a statement, which Yemen News Agency (Saba) received a copy of it, the UN envoy expressed his concern over the recent escalation of the level of violence in Yemen, which resulted in the killing of many civilians.

"We must all work to push the peace process forward, not to take it back," he added.

Griffiths emphasized that de-escalation has a critical role in sustaining the progress achieved in terms of calm.

He called on all parties concerned to take the necessary measures to calm down military activities, stressing the need for all parties to commit to implementing the initiatives they had taken previously towards calm and reinforce them.
