Prisoners' murder in Marib prisons is war crime: "Humanity Eye" Center
[22/October/2019]
SANAA, Oct. 20 (Saba) – The "Humanity Eye" Center for Rights and Development on Saturday said that the killing of prisoners under torture in prisons of Saudi-led aggression coalition forces in Marib province amounts to a war crime.
The Center affirmed, in a statement issued Saturday evening, that this crime is an extension of a series of murders and torture committed by the coalition forces and mercenaries.
In its statement, the Center condemned this heinous crime, calling for the formation of an impartial international commission of inquiry to investigate all coalition crimes committed against the Yemeni people.
The Center considered this crime against prisoners a serious violation of international humanitarian law, which criminalizes the killing or torture of prisoners, referring to the 17th and 130th articles of the Third Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
The statement held the aggression coalition states responsible for the crime and its predecessors.
